Frequently asked questions
Can we bring witnesses and guests to the wedding?
Yes, you may. If you want your guests to witness your wedding day, you must nominate two witnesses and provide us with their full names and address.
We must pass the information on to the city hall because they must register the witnesses' names in the system.
Subject to space availability, you can have up to 20 to 30 guests in the wedding room.
Do you provide witnesses?
The city hall will make two witnesses available on weekdays. If you want to marry on Saturday, you must provide two witnesses. You must tell us the full name and address of the witnesses because we have to pass the information on to the city hall, which must register the names of the witnesses in the system.
Who pays the fee to the Family Court?
We do. When we apply for marriage in Denmark on your behalf, we must pay 240 euros to the Family Court.
Who makes an appointment for a wedding?
You must give us one or two dates you want to marry at the city hall. We will then contact the city hall and make an appointment for you. When the city hall approves the date, we will send you an e-mail about the date and time you will get married at the city hall.
How many weeks does it take to get married at the city hall?
With our city hall package for 799 euros, it can take up to four to five weeks to get married from the day we send all your documents and application to the Family Court.
The family court will process your documents within five working days. They will process your inquiry within three to four weeks. Once they approve your documents, we will contact the city hall on the same day and state which day you wish to get married.
How many days will we stay in Denmark?
It all depends on which city hall you choose. Specific city halls want you to come a day before, show your and your partner´s passports and residency permit, and get married the day after. Then there are also city halls that want you to go on the same day, show your and your partner´s passports and residency permit, and get married on the same day.
Should we stay in Denmark after we get married?
If you want to experience Denmark, you can stay and enjoy the different places. But it is not a requirement. You can also travel back to your home country on the same day. It is entirely up to you.
What documents should we bring with us on the wedding day?
You must bring your and your partner´s passports, residency permit for the country you are staying.
How many marriage certificates do we get?
The city hall will give you two marriage certificates after the ceremony. If you want an extra one, please let us know so we can inform the city hall, who can prepare it for your wedding ceremony.
The marriage certificate will only be on one page with five different languages. It will be in English, German, French, Spanish, and Danish.
